Programme HUB

Programme HUB

The programme of an online gallery offers an open 24 hours exhibition of 3D art, metaspaces, digital sculptures and objects (such as robots, dragons), as well as a presentation of artistic researches on AR storytelling.

The online venue acts as a portal to metaspaces created by Polish artists. This is the first online show that explore and connect varies virtual galleries and projects of 3D spaces, such as “First VR Art Gallery” by Katarzyna Koba and Kamila Sitak, “Polish Bootleg Tpaes” by Marek Woźniak and Kamil Jędra, “Robot Diaries” by Anna Nierobisz, “Portfolio Room” by Krzysztof Syruć. During online events, such as curatorial tours, the public will be able to meet and chat with XR creators, producers and promoters of Polish XR.

The online venue can be visited via a VR headset or a web browser from a computer or a mobile device. The Hub is an extension of the physical exhibition at the BFI. A list of visitors and participants and the programme of live events will be announced in March on the XRossspace Showcase website.

Robot Diaries

Robot Diaries

– Anna Nierobisz

“Robot Diaries” – a metaspace inspired by Stanislaw Lem’s literature – is a sci-fi immersive storytelling experience set in a robot care centre. The futuristic space station is filled with abandoned robots who need assistance to be brought to former glory. Traveling through the labyrinth of the centre participants get to know a handful of robots and are set on tasks to help them.

– Marek Woźniak, Kamil Jędra

Metaspace VR “Polish Bootleg Tapes” presents a unique perspective on the pirate culture in Poland in the 80s and 90s. Thanks to new technologies, the public can take a close look at digitised 3D cassette tapes and their amateur covers, which were known only to fans within the grassroots circulation.

First VR Art Gallery

First VR Art Gallery

– Katarzyna Koba and Kamila Sitak

The “First VR Art Gallery” is the first online exhibition venue in Poland that conducts regular vernissages in a virtual environment. It looks for the best way of converting traditional painting and photography to a metaspace for real time events. Each virtual exhibition is an opportunity to meet an international audience of digital spaces.

AR & Storytelling

AR & Storytelling

– video documentation

What can be hidden “on the other side” of a book, poster or postcard? Students of creative writing and new media art tried to answer that question in their projects by using AR technology not as an interesting addition to storytelling, but its integral component (e.g. by revealing subsequent layers of memories).

Workshops tutors: dr Agnieszka Przybyszewska (University of Lodz), Marcin Wichrowski (Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw);
AR works: “A Postcard From Past Self” by Martyna Ciesielska, Monika Staroń, Amalia Podgórska, Jakub Serafiński; “Happy Birthday?” by Agata Pietras, Natalia Krupko; “The fortune Teller” by Maria Domińczak, Aleksandra Niedźwiedzka, Nourhan Gomaa, Ivan Izotau.

The Scorpion Armchair

The Scorpion Armchair

– 3D scan, Eternal Engine

What if a gaming chair merged with the player’s imagination or a game world? Eternal Engine presents a 3D scan of the armchair that “answers” this question and at the same time can play as a comfortable bridge between two worlds – physical and virtual.

Credits:

The 3D scan is a digital twin of a physical object created by Eternal Engine: Jagoda Wójtowicz, Martix Nawrot in collaboration with Karolina Grygier and Grzegorz Ciamciach.

#7

BESTIARIUM

BESTIARIUM

– Photon Foundation

Dragons of the BESTIARIUM can be found as AR works not only at the physical space of the BFI, but also as 3D sculptures at the virtual venue of XRossspace Showcase. This transition is an attempt to scale the AR experience to the metaspace and to find the new or common quality of two different art experiences, two various exhibition surroundings.

Concept: Photon Foundation: Elwira Wojtunik, Popesz Csaba Láng;
Coordination and programming: Popesz Csaba Láng;
AR works: 3D dragons of “BESTIARIUM”;
